Noir Addiction ‘How She’s Got It’

The dark industrial rock band Noir Addiction recently released their new EP and How She’s Got It - a hypnotic single that focuses on love as a blur into something uncertain and unresolved.
Blending a sense of obsession with an air of mystery, the repetitive chorus conjures an image of an elusive female archetype.
The trio consists of Sonny Lanegan as the main songwriter and producer, Roberto Catanzaro as the drummer, and Nessie Zorba on keyboards and percussion. Together, they blend electronic textures with synth elements to bring to life a haunting, raw sound.
When describing the song’s meaning, Sonny said: “It’s like when you lose something really special in your life. You kind of get attached to a certain situation and you don't understand what's happening around you – you lose touch with reality.”
“It makes you think, ‘What does she have that I can’t get?’ and it’s making you crazy."
How She’s Got It is part of their album Pretty Things Don’t Last, which is set to be released on 16 July. The song was initially just an instrumental, but it all changed when Sonny had an idea for lyrics and, within a few days, the song was born. Their first single of the year, Serve Me Some Crime, was released in March and exceeded their expectations in terms of coverage, reaching over 67,000 streams on Spotify. Earlier this year, they bagged their first record deal with Soulpunx Records.
‘Noir’ is French for black, and Sonny described this link to the band’s name as their “love for everything that’s spooky and dark”.
He added: “We are affected and excited by all things noir because you also have good stuff that comes out of darkness. In terms of addiction, it’s not a connotation to drugs or stuff like that; it’s more about something you can't stop when it comes to being creative.”
When I asked Sonny which film or TV series he’d like How She’s Got It to be the theme song for, he said the series You. They refer to Italy as their ‘headquarters’, but deep down they don’t feel connected to their motherland. This explains a lot, as most of their connections are outside the country and many of their fans naturally wonder if they’re from the US.
Sonny has lived in Los Angeles for several years, and this influence heavily dominates their persona. They can’t wait to leave and explore new places where they can connect with fans from all parts of the globe. As a very humble and down-to-earth musician, Sonny said they’ve loved the appreciation they’ve received so far from fans.
A new project is in the pipeline, so stay tuned!
Noir Addiction are set to tour the album this autumn, with dates secured for London on 29 October and a yet-to-be-confirmed location on 30 and 31 October. They’re also hoping to tour France in November.
