Malcolm Todd Feat. Omar Apollo - ‘Bleed’ | Single Review
May 14 2025 | Written By Lauren Ketterl
Alternative R&B artist Malcolm Todd released his newest single ‘Bleed (feat. Omar Apollo)’, on February 28th, leading up to the release of his self-titled album set to drop on April 4th. And if it’s anything like this song, it is set to be a certified banger.
The singer gained popularity on TikTok for posting clips of his songs and claiming they were new songs from Steve Lacy, who Todd claims is one of his musical influences, along with Dominic Fike and Omar Apollo, who Todd recently opened for on tour and is featured on this single. Todd has grown his popularity online by releasing teases of his songs before they come out, which has caused many of them to go viral on TikTok. Recently, his single ‘Chest Pain (I Love),’ which is also featured on the upcoming album, went viral on TikTok and was the number one trending sound.
This song is the second single released for the new album, and both songs have an edgier sound compared to his previous album, “Sweet Boy.” With songs titled ‘Chest Pain (I Love)’ and ‘Bleed,’ you can see that there is a more aggressive approach to this new music, but it is certainly working out for him.
The song has a catchy beat and playful and fun lyrics that make the song a real foot-tapper. Omar Apollo’s verse on the song brings a smooth, unexpected twist to the hit that makes it that much better. There is an intimate feel to the lyrics and what feels like a possible reference to the movie “Queer” that Apollo appears in. The song features a repetition of control and sort of giving your self-control to someone else. The music video also depicts a lot of fighting and pain seen through fighting.
If this song is any indication to what the album on April 4th is going to be like, listeners should be very excited to see what else Malcolm Todd is set to put out. He is also expected to begin his tour “The Wholesome Rockstar Tour” on May 1st.
